Rice Puff & Sesame Puff
Sesame puff (麻粩) and Rice puff (米粩) are traditional delicacies of the Minnan region with a long history. Legend has it that ancient local officials presented them as tribute to the court and were highly praised by the imperial court, hence these two traditional delicacies are also known as "Minnan Tribute Goods".
This sweet treat is fragrant and delicious, with a crispy and soft texture that is not too sweet and not sticky to the teeth, leaving a lasting aftertaste. Sesame puffs are rich in nutrients and have the effect of improving appetite, suitable for all ages and not easily bored of. Rice puffs and sesame puffs are not only excellent dishes for banquets but also a good choice for Wedding Gifts.
For Hokkien people, sesame puff and rice puff are essential dowry items, representing blessings and happiness. For Cantonese people, these two joyous puffs are called "Mi Tong"(米通)and"Ma Tong" (麻通).
